Tilgate, Crawley Attractions

In preparing this page I must first mention Crawley’s close proximity to road, rail and air links to all parts of the UK as well as abroad. The road and rail links also provide easy access to London theatres, museums etc; and Brighton with the sea, more theatres and seaside entertainment.
Wherever one lives in Crawley one will consider the overall attractions of the town as not everything can be in the same place. You will therefore leave Tilgate to get to the theatre, bowling alley, cinemas etc.
Tilgate does however have some major attractions on it doorstep. You do not have to travel far for an active lifestyle and the K2 leisure centre, tilgate park and its nature reserve, a golf course, angling and tilgate forest are all within walking distance of Tilgate homes. Tilgate Park:- is a lovely oasis of calm in the urban jungle of Crawley. Take a stroll around the lakes, watch the ducks and swans, admire the beautiful trees and shrubs, and just enjoy the space and quiet. And one of the highlights is the nature park, where you can see all kinds of creatures, from pigs to storks, wallabies to bunny rabbits and even rare red squirrels. The nature centre is free to enter, they only ask for a donation at the gate. In addition there is the green zone, where you can learn about the environment, the walled garden, maze and the cafe, the pub, children's play areas..... There are lots of lovely walks in and around the park, and it is just a lovely place to spend a day. A history of Tilgate Park can be found here.

Tilgate Forest:- Once part of Worth Forest this large area of woodland is divided by the motorway. Bridges over the motorway allow access to the southern areas from Tilgate Park. Plenty of scope for an after dinner stroll or a long afternoons walking.
