This is Tilgate, Crawley
Welcome; I have lived in Tilgate for over 40 years and felt a site putting the estate services and activities in one place would be useful.
The first Tilgate houses were built in 1955. I have always found the homes to be well built mainly terraced with two, three and four bedroom homes, Designs vary and since “right to buy” the ground floor fascias differ as owners have amended the interiors to suit their ideas.
Tilgate has a fairly extensive shopping parade where most things can be found. At the far end of the parade you will find The Tilgate, the neighbourhood pub which provides some entertainments and has a wireless internet connection apparently.
To the south of Tilgate lies Tilgate Forest The forest contains Tilgate Nature Reserve and Wild Breeds Centre, several recreational lakes and park areas, Tilgate Golf Course, and several small commercial buildings known as 'huts' which are used by small sports and hobby clubs and businesses.
On the western edge of the estate adjacent to Thomas Bennett Community College is the new K2 Leisure Centre. Which is accessed from the A23.
I hope the information within these pages will be useful to you. If you or your organisation would like to be included please contact me.
